What’s as Easy As 123? – Powerful Self Help Motivation
If you are reading this, you’ve probably read many self help books, self-help CDs, and have gone to numerous self-help workshops. You might even be feeling a little disappointed that with all this you still aren’t as far along as you want to be. Well don’t stop now, here are three steps that will help you turn your limiting beliefs into powerful self-help motivation.
Step 1. Discover your se
lf-limiting beliefs. If you’re not as far along as you would like to be you most likely have since self limiting beliefs holding you back. They are those ideas you hold as true about yourself and the world at large that have you place limits on what you believe is possible. They can be conscious or unconscious beliefs and you probably had even had experiences that might make you want to justify them is true. Or these beliefs could be totally unfounded. Whichever is true for you, these beliefs limit you and what you’re able to achieve–they trigger a lack of motivation and are an absolute drain on your energy.
To find these beliefs, pay attention to what you say and what you think. Have you ever hear yourself saying things such as, “I’m not good enough to get what I want.” or “That person is never going to want to go out with someone like me” or “I’m just not smart enough to get a good job.” Sound familiar?
Step 2. As soon as you identify one of your limiting beliefs it’s time to convert it. This conversion will generate the self help motivation you have to have in order to transition from limitations to possibilities. Take this statement for example: “That person is never going to want to go out with someone like me.” And convert it into what you “do want”. I want to go out with someone who enjoys the way I look. Which one feels better?
Turn the statement: “I’m just not smart enough to get a good job…” Into what you “do want”. I want a job where I use my strengths and people appreciate me for who I am. Which one feels better?
Limitations are produced in our own minds. When we say something over and over again, we begin to believe it. The truth is we only have the limitations we place on ourselves.
“If you think you can…. or if you think you can’t…you’re right!” ~Henry Ford
Step 3. Move into action! Once you’ve figured out your “do want”, determine at least three actions you can take to start heading in the direction of what you want. If you want a job where you’ll be appreciated for who you are and have the ability to use your strengths, you might want to start by discovering your authentic self and identifying your strengths. Then you could possibly began sharpen these strengths to build your self-confidence.
If you want to be in a relationship with a person that like the way you look, you might want to make sure you like the way you look. If not, figure out what steps you could take that will help you start liking the way you.
Any self help motivation is only as good as the actions you are willing to take. Effective actions build self-confidence; self-confidence inspires you to be in more action which in turn generates more motivation. As we said in the beginning, it can be as easy as 1 2 3.
